For writers working on a novel or work of fiction – 5 day writing retreat with editorial support at a historic house in Wiltshire from Sunday June 3 to Friday June 8, 2018. Also includes workshops and dinners with best selling author Claire Fuller and Orion fiction publisher and editor, Kirsty Dunseath.

Five night stay in a classic Palladian fronted manor house near Frome and Bath in Wiltshire. Once the site of a Roman British settlement, the Grade 2 listed family home is set in its own parkland with extensive gardens including a walled garden, kitchen garden, swimming pool and tennis court.

Each writer will have a minimum of two one-on-one sessions with editors Sara Sarre or Oliver James to work on any problems they may be experiencing. Writers are asked to submit their synopsis and a 3,000 word extract ahead of the retreat. We are also able to offer specialist mentoring for those writers starting out with their novel.

Guests: Claire Fuller is a writer and an artist. Her first novel, Our Endless Numbered Days won the 2015 Desmond Elliott Prize for debut fiction and was a Richard and Judy Book Club book in 2016. Her second novel, Swimming Lessons was published in early 2017, and the third, Bitter Orange will be published later this year. She will talk about her writing and journey to getting published.

Accommodation: Single or double occupancy is available. Several of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms which are likely to be popular so do sign up as soon as possible for those rooms. Please note that we do not arrange room sharing, it’s up to writers to find someone to share with.

Location: The house is located about 10 minutes drive from Frome, a charming market town and 25 minutes from the city of Bath. The closest train station is Westbury, with regular trains from London Paddington.

Cost: Single Occupancy with ensuite/ own bathroom- £1,145.  (deposit £300)
